IDFPR Announces Paperless Licensing Process

Attention Illinois Real Estate Licensees: Effective immediately, the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation is no longer issuing paper renewal notices and licenses.

In a recent news release, IDFPR Secretary Bryan A. Schneider announced that paperless licensing and renewal has now been implemented for the professions licensed and regulated by the Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation including  the Division of Real Estate.

"By enacting a paperless renewal process and shifting to an electronic verification of licensure, we increase efficiency, reduce costs, and provide an overall better experience for our licensed professionals," said Bryan A. Schneider, IDFPR Secretary.

Several questions immediately come to mind: How can I carry my pocket card as required by law, if a license is not issued? How can a sponsoring broker have copies of sponsored licensees licenses available for public inspection, How do I transfer from one sponsoring broker to another if there is no license to be signed off on?

IDFPR has provided an online FAQ to answer questions that you may have about the change.

The 2016 Broker License renewal deadline is April 30 and renewal notice and notice of licensee issuance will be provided electronically. It is the licensee's responsibility to ensure that your e-mail address and contact information are up to date.
